I’m sitting on the balcony of our hotel in the Hanoi Old Quarter reading a book while soaking in the atmosphere of the surroundings.Washing hanging neatly beneath the covered balconies, lanterns adding colour to this otherwise sepia town. The old run down concrete houses with mould forming imaginary pictures on the walls, like the formations the clouds can often form in the sky. But not here. There is no sun here and no clouds - just a sheet of grey covering the sky. Hopefully that is just the weather of the last few days here and not always like this.

Wait! I can feel the sun trying to break through the grey blanket ....
Nope - but I can feel it’s warmth. ☀️
The hum of the chatter below is broken constantly by the honking of bikes and cars in their effort to pass the volume of vehicles and pedestrians blocking their way. I doubt there are any road rules here, just an unspoken law that you get out of the way when you hear the honk!

Despite the noise and activity there is a calmness here and friendliness I have come to expect in Asia.
